The wheku design is a contempory representation of an ancestor. This particular design is a digital copy of Sam's first finished whakairo in 2022 at his Level 4 class. The finished, wooden carving was presented to Sam's dad at his 80th birthday in November of 2022, but it lives on through this digital image.
